Sometimes to achieve what you want, you need to do precisely the opposite: You need to give up and stop trying so hard. You need to abandon the belief in your abilities and talent, only to discover the true calling of your life.
These are most certainly words to live by. The problem is, we become so stressed out and discouraged by happenings of everyday life, that we forget these three important golden rules. It's a good thing you posted this. It will make a lot of more people aware.
That is so true! A person can do anything if he/she puts her/his mind to it. I believe I will succeed and I try very hard and have not given up. If you find something you love to do – do it every day. I have found that love in writing! I do it every day and it gives me joy! I use to worry about what people think about my writing. As long as I am happy with it and it is the best of me, then I don't put too much credence into what others think.
As you stated finding what you want first is the hardest part, then following the recipe is a piece of cake. Cough, cough. :) So refreshing to read someone getting to the point quickly. Sometimes we want the facts straight.
Nothing worthy is easy, the trying and continuing on is part of the process. Thanks for the prod.:)
Funny I was having a talk with my wife about becoming a writer and she was on about me not getting delusional, I think this advice helps because although I do not expect anything to happen if I do not believe I can and keep trying then it will never happen. I think as long as you don't expect things to happen too much but try to make them happen then life is worth living.
Personally, I have begun to refrain from using the word "try." I always loved the analogy that Dr. John Bradshaw used about the word "try." Someone either gets up from his or her chair or remains seated. No one "tries" to stand up, just as no one "tries" to sit down.
Also, when I hear someone say that he or she shall "try" to do something, it is as if there is this backdoor that states "well, I may fail anyway." At least, that has been my experience.
I enjoy and admire your writing so much, that I've nominated you for the Liebster Award (although I assume you've been nominated a kashmillion times before).
All three steps are absolutely true. However, there is one thing I always have trouble doing because I'm a pessimist. It's the first thing you mentioned: Believe you can. I have a hard time doing that, but I'm trying to get rid of those problems. Thank you for posting this.
In my 22 years of life I've been a pessimist, an optimist, an idealist, and a realist. And quite frankly, I like being an idealist the most. Don't know why.

Keep this in mind when you go to blog, write or do anything to pursue your dream. I know I have a hard time with the first step, but I'm starting to. I hope.
Good reminder! Easily stated, but not necessarily easily executed. But then again, easy is over-rated : )- BTW, THANK YOU for "liking" my blog. I'm linking back to you in tonight's post.
There can be another way though, because sometimes we can try too hard and we can become exhausted. We can try too hard and find out it wasn't worth trying. Sometimes we can be flogging a dead horse. So I'd say, find out if what you're trying for is worth trying for before you try too hard. Otherwise yes, don't let your negative chatter talk you out of it :-)
In my writing I have learned this time and again. I was always told to write first and foremost for the love of writing. I have focused on that deeply, unrelenting. I do believe, come what may. It would seem that perhaps my time has come…still I write for the love and the rest will be as it will be.
Rinse, and repeat.
:)
Great advice.
You might want to call these the three hard steps… :)
I believe figuring out what you want is the most difficult step.
Definitely! And figuring out what you want as opposed to what others want for you…the why of the what is kinda huge too…
I agree. Knowing what you want is the prelude to the three steps.
That and figuring out who you are.
This is right on time!
This is right on time…
There is no greater truth. If you allow the human spirit to persevere, it can
achieve greatness
Now there's some pretty solid advice.
Repeat as necessary.
Never try.
Yes!

perfecto!!

Yep. Boiled down to the essence.
And that sums it up! Great job!

Like they say, "whether you think you can, or whether you think you can't, you're right."
You are who you want to be!
I definitely needed this right now. Thank you!
That is pretty good advice! And should be repeated every time we want to try something new and never forget these steps. These steps are important. :)

Great succinct words of wisdom! Thanks for stopping by my blog, too. Jane
Simple and awesome.
"Dream it. See it. Do it." That's what has been Michael Jackson saying all his life.
Easy to read, harder to apply.
Totally.

Three simple, yet great points! I'm determined not to give up my dream of getting published!
Yep… that's the ticket.
Sometimes we just need to be reminded how some of the best advice is so simple.
Thank you!
Practice, practice!

Great start to Monday morning! Thanks!
Aww thank you so much for this post. Really need this one.
Great advice. It's all about attitude. Starting off with a great attitude and holding to it lifts most of the weight.
Three great steps to do over and over again, until you get it right!
Sound advice. So hard to follow. Hopefully the efforts are rewarded.
:) :) :) same wave over here – NEVER EVER EVER give Up :) well done :)
I believe, "Keep it short." is implied?
Keep it simple :)
The first step is the hardest :)
Simple and to the point. I love it!
