I’m on Instagram

"Jazz" in front of the Romanian House of Parliament in Bucharest

So, yeah, I’m now on Instagram as well. Not sure how often I’ll be posting photos, but I think I’m going to have lots of fun with this social network thingy, even though I’m not a photographer and stuff.

Anyway, you can follow me here.

I was thinking of doing a sort of contest thingy, where people take photographs of Jazz (or The Writer) in front of various landmarks and such. What do you think about this?

  1. I think u would be surprised how photography changes your perception. You would enjoy it, I think. You begin to study people, objects, nature, buildings in a different way. With black & white, you concentrate a great deal on light & shadow. Texture. Contrast. I miss my days in the darkroom. But whether it’s color or black & white, once you start thinking about framing shots, examining faces, capturing moments, all of these things could also have an impact on your writing. On character building, setting, descriptions in general. It’s a a different form of observation. Differences between someone who poses for a photograph versus candid shots. And once you’ve experimented with photo, you can shift the way you observe everything. There’s a difference between walking down the street casually people watching than framing things with a photographers eye. It’s an experiment to think about. Peace, love, hope, xx
