“You can’t connect the dots looking forward you can only connect them looking backwards.
So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.
You have to trust in something: your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever.
Because believing that the dots will connect down the road will give you the confidence to follow your heart, even when it leads you off the well worn path.” — Steve Jobs
Thirteen years ago someone read one of my stories.
They didn’t like it. They told me to give up and do something else.
And this made me angry.
Yes, I was but a kid back then, but I truly believed in my dream.
I didn’t think of myself as being talented, but I wanted to make it.
I believed in my dream…
“You were designed for accomplishment, engineered for success, and endowed with the seeds of greatness.” — Zig Ziglar
I followed my heart. I wrote and I wrote and I wrote. I had no one to support me, no one to read my words.
It’s kind of difficult to write, with no audience. With no plan of ever reaching an audience.
Yet I hoped.
Somehow I knew that as long as I kept writing, something would happen.
I knew that it would all make sense.
That people were going to read my words, that I would leave my mark upon this world.
Of course, I didn’t know how or when. I’d give up on writing for a couple of days, weeks, or even a few months, but I’d always return to it when the words would demand to be let out of their cage.
What I’m really trying to say is this: follow your passions mercilessly. It doesn’t matter if no one cares, if no one’s there to support you. It doesn’t matter if you don’t have all the pieces of the puzzle in place…
All that matters is that you do your thing.
Day in and day out.
Trust your insticts. Listen to your heart.
Fight for your dream.
Day after day after day.
Pick yourself up when you fall.
Don’t sell yourself short.
Greatness is achieved. Always.
