Good things…

“Things may come to those who wait, but only the things that are left by those who hustle.”

I’m terribly sorry, but there’s no substitute for hard work. No shortcuts, no step-by-step guide. No secret routine, no magic potion, nothing of the sorts.

It doesn’t matter if you like or not this arrangement, because this is law; one that applies to everything you do: your work, your passions, your body, your relationships, your beliefs, your virtues.

Life is war.

Make no mistake. We are all created equal. We all dream for a better life. We all wake up sometimes in the middle of the night, startled by nightmares of never becoming who we want to be. And in the morning, we we muster the courage and strength to get out of bed, we are afraid of who we are. Terrified by all that we are lacking…

We are all created equal. But some people work harder than others.

That’s it.

The big secret. The shortcut. The great revelation.

You’ve got to work.

You’ve got to fight for what you want.

You have to put on foot in front of the other, regardless of how you feel.

Because you’re dreams don’t care about you feeling tired, lazy, bored, or scared.

You can wait, or you can hustle, but remember this: wishing does not make it so.

Wishful thinking is just that…

Dreams kept in cages. Dreams destined to never fly. Condemned to a slow death.

You either hustle or you die. Long before they throw dirt at you.

Don’t give in to your fear, don’t surrender to the voices that keep telling you that you can’t do it.

“It’s impossible.” The voices tell you. “You’re not good enough. You can’t do it. You just can’t.”

Aren’t they stupid, these voices?

Telling you you can’t do something before you even attempt it?

And aren’t you such a sucker for believing them? Aren’t you such a sucker for thinking that you can get it right from the first try?

Who can?

Who ever did?

The ones you admire, the great ones who make it seem so effortless… they are the ones who grit their teeth and hustled like crazy. They practiced in private, over and over again. They never grew complacent to who they were or what they had.

There’s nothing else.

Face your fears, brace yourself, and hustle like crazy.

And you’ll get everything you want from life.

Good writing Christian. Reading it brought to my mind this old idea, “And Jesus said to him, No man, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”

Well said! Just today only I was trying to inspire somebody whose only reason to not doing anything was – if it has to happen, it will happen / if God wants it, it will happen / if it is in my destiny, it will happen. I really don’t understand how it will happen if you don’t make it happen!

  5. Post well said! 😊😊

Equally important to the hard work, is the persistence. Life will win some days, our job is to get up and keep fighting with belief in what we are fighting for or working so hard for. As a leader, I would often use the movie Rocky as metaphor for what life demands of us. Stay in the ring, keep fighting, when knocked down, get up, but work hard to get what you want – that one chance.

    Nicely written, man.

  9. Great piece. ..It’s not enough to dream and believe, you have to make it happen; for faith without works has always been dead……

  10. Wow, that was a bracing piece. Definitely a waker upper! Thank you!!

  11. Right on, there is no easy way to achieve big goals. But, step by step you can get there.
