What we think about…

“A man is what he thinks about all day long.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Change your thoughts and you can change your world. A terrible cliche, isn’t?

And yet almost every self-made man will tell you just how important thoughts are. Alongside a lot of self-proclaimed gurus.

I am neither. But I can tell you that thoughts are extemely important.

What you think you become. What you think shapes your emotions and actions.

Ultimately, everything you are and have is the reflection of what you think about.

Or how you think.

That’s the trick I guess. How to think. What to think about.

“Dreams do come true, if only we wish hard enough. You can have anything in life if you will sacrifice everything else for it.” J.M. Barrie

What I realized recently is that we seldom live in the present. We are haunted by mistakes from the past. We are terrified about the future.

We do not realize that the past is just a story. Feedback. That’s it. The future has yet to come.

That’s our power. The here and now. Doing our best at any given time.

That’s the main ingredient for happiness, success, and all the other things that seem to ellude most people.

We are what we think. And we must be careful, for our thoughts alone create the reality that we live in.

That’s why I like to say that life is just a matter of perspective.

You can only see what you expect to see. You can only achieve goals that you set for yourself.

Simple, huh?

  1. Let’s hope we all channelise our thoughts positively 😊 It’s so important indeed. After all, our success, love, happiness, all depend on our thoughts. Good read and insightful.

  2. Your upbringing also plays a role in how you think and behave. My sisters and myself were always encouraged to step into the world with a certain level of self-confidence. So to me it was never about if I would be successful it was more so in what and how long would it take.

  3. Life is trial and error and always the work. You have to get your hands, literally and figuratively, dirty in order to obtain any dream worth pursuing. More than that, you have to genuinely love the work, even when it feels futile, the love will keep you tethered to it and eventually, realize it.
