“It is in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped.
The three decisions that control your destiny are:
1. Your decisions about what to focus on.
2. Your decisions about what things mean to you.
3. Your decisions about what to do to create the results you desire.”
– Anthony Robbins
First we make choices, and then those choices make us. We become what we think about, we become the meaning we give to what happens to us. If we do not take care of what we do today, tomorrow will be hell.
This is a tough lesson to understand. This is, probably, the most important of lessons, because just as greatness is not a singular moment of heroism, so you cannot destroy your life in just one moment.
One bad decision after another until you feel overwhelmed. Until it feels as if there’s no way out. As if it feels as if the weight of the world is on your shoulders…
What do you do when you feel like that? As if the weight of the world is on your shoulders?
Simple. You shrug.
You make different decisions. You focus on different things. You focus on the twenty four hours in front of you and do your best, and that’s the most any of us can do.
One good decision after another…
I was seventeen years old when a visit to the dentist ruined a lot of things for me. He said that my teeth were decaying faster than usual, a lot faster, and that I had to have them replaced. All of them. My family didn’t have the money, so I just… I wasted years wishing they had. Yes, that’s what I did. I decided that I was too young, too weak, too pathetic of a human being to do anything other than wish my parents could help me.
The thing with such a decision is that it becomes a habit. The habit of feeling powerless. The habit of feeling as if the world is too much.
I struggled to eat. Had no self-confidence. Raised money, did what I could to get the job done.
It took me five years to get to the point of fixing almost everything.
The last stage of the treatment needs to be done as soon as possible. I have to implants in my lower left jaw, and I can’t keep them there forever. There’s more work to be done.
$1,300 are left to raise out of $2,000.
I need your help to finish this bad chapter of my life. I can’t do it without you.
If you wish to help me out, you can contribute any amount you see fit here.
