Six years ago I decided to start this blog. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. I didn’t know much about the platform, about topics and all that.
I just knew I had to do something. I had to write, write, write. I was sick of my own excuses.
Last year I wrote this cute post here, which became one of the most popular posts on this blog. It wasn’t meant to be the sort of post that receives that much attention. Anyway.
Six years is a lot of time. Most of the people who once sponsored the start of irevuo have given up on blogging a while ago. Then again, a few of the writers that started out roughly at the same time as me are now millionaires, having sold the rights to some of their titles to big movie studios.
How do you define success in that case?
The people you used to interview on your blog, the ones who supported you along the way. The ones you admired, but gave up long before reaching the kind of potential you had envisioned for them?
The most talented writer I ever met gave up on writing before even earning a dime from her work.
Thinking about this, I should consider myself lucky.
Could I have done more?
But the past can only be a place of reference, not one of residence.
Do I want to do more?
This is why I want to branch out. To change a lot of things when it comes to this blog, and future projects.
THE ART OF BLOGGING: THE BLOG
All the cool names were already taken.
On a more serious note, I do plan on creating a blog that will deal exclusively on blogging and content creation. A lot more resources that what I currently add to this blog. At least a post per day, free course, the works.
I do hope to be able to do this as soon as possible. I need funds in order to purchase a domain, all the necessary plugins, and themes. About 200-300$.
In this situation I could use your help. That is, if you want to be a Patron of the Art of Blogging.
Simply put, if you contribute any amount via PayPal here, any amount at all, you’ll be listed as a Patron of the Art of Blogging on the website itself. Both in the sidebar, and also on a special page in the main menu.
This listing will include a picture of your choosing, and a description of your blog. A short bio or something you create especially for this. It will also include relevant links, such as to your blog or social media accounts.
The listing will appear for the first two years of the blog’s existence.
Basically this is cheap advertising, because it does not matter how much you contribute, you get listed as Patron.
This is my number one priority, which will also ensure that I can write other type of posts for this blog as well.
What kind of posts?
The kind that motivates and inspires you.
Also, by branching out, I’ll be able to post more of my own fiction, stories, and so on.
irevuo will still be the place for all things art.
story-a-week will be the place where I post a free short story every week.
That being said, I’d like to thank you all for sticking with me for another year.
