He who reigns within himself

“One can have no smaller or greater mastery than mastery of oneself.” – Leonardo daVinci

There are two kinds of people in this world: those who do things when they feel like doing them, and those who do things until they feel like doing them. The first kind, they let their emotions rule them, they do and say what they feel, when they feel. The second kind, they rely on self-discipline, rely on principles, rules, and the conviction that moods and feelings are unreliable and temporary and easily manipulated.

The first kind are slaves to their brains, the second one masters.

Which one are you?

Which one is best to be?

Master yourself and you’ll be able to accomplish anything you set your mind to. Develop the habits and the self-discipline required to do what is necessary, when necessary.

Appetite comes by eating, we say here in Romania. Start chewing and sooner or later you’ll feel hungry. Something like that. The mind is a terrible master, but such an obedient servant. We can make it do anything at all, train it to develop the habits of success, wealth, happiness…

People often imagine that those who are different than them must be fundamentally different. Somehow, they feel in different ways. They mistake bravery for a lack of fear, they mistake happiness for a lack of pain, they erroneously believe those who work hard are so in love with their work that there’s nothing else they’d rather be doing.

Mastery over oneself is true power. You can fight all your life and try to change people, try to make them like you or listen to you, or you can simply decide that you are the kind of person that people follow, a leader, a lion not a sheep. And watch how people react and adapt to you.

Rule yourself and be a king. Rule yourself and do anything you want to do, achieve any goal, be unstoppable. There is nothing more important than mastery over oneself.
