“Don’t let life discourage you; everyone who got where they are had to begin where they were.” — Richard L. Evans

There comes a time when a certain number of obstacles get in the way of you getting what you want.

What you thought would happen, didn’t. Your expectations turned out to be misguided.

What do you do then?

Well, the answer is simple. Rest, if you have to. Don’t quit, but take a short break to think things through. What happened, who did what, and what has to be done to improve the situation.

Don’t spend too much time though. You’ve got to keep moving forward, no matter what.

Most people give up when they encounter resistance because they secretly wish it were easy.

Hate to break it down to you, but it’s never easy.

Most times it’s an uphill battle. And it keeps being so, even as you get better and wiser.

But you’ve got to keep going. Think of the view from the top, think of why you chose this path.

Your why has to be strong enough to beat the crap out of any setback, drawback, disappointment, or excuse.

Afraid you’ll fail?

Be more afraid you won’t succeed.

Do what has to be done, do what others don’t want to do, so you can get what others can only wish for.

Fight, dammit. Fight.

This is what really makes the difference. How much effort people put into whatever it is you’re doing. That’s it.

  1. This reminded me a lot of Teddy Roosevelt’s famous “The Man in the Arena” speech. It’s scary putting yourself out there in pursuit of your dreams, but scarier still would be a life of timidity, never knowing your limits.

  2. Hey Christian, Great post as usual. Quick question, one of your last blogs motivated the current one I’m writing and I wanted to know if I could mention you in it? I will link your blog and your page. Sorry I had to ask on here, I just didn’t know where else to reach you.
