“Neither love nor terror makes one blind: indifference makes one blind.” – James Baldwin
I believe that this world is only as big as we want it to be. We don’t see the world as it is, but as we are.
And I also believe that a lot of people choose not to see as much as they could. I strenuously believe people kind of like being blind to the outside world, to what doesn’t cater to their needs and desires.
What I’m really trying to say is that we’re spending most of our time being self-centered.
We are not the center of the Universe. None of us is.
The Universe, yes, it’s a huge and dark place. It’s indifferent to our needs, wants, dreams, expectations. That’s why we need to take care of each other, to help each other become the very best possible versions of ourselves.
And it’s not about what we might get by being like this, but about who we become in being like this.

Definitely. You can’t give your energy to bad things and expect to cultivate good things. We need to be better to ourselves and others.

I agree. We so often get caught up in our own desires that we fail to see the person that is suffering standing right next to us. Being self centered in itself isn’t bad, in some instances we need to think of self first. Being self centered to the point where you can’t attend to the needs of others is dangerous and not how God intended for this world to operate.

I am so happy that you are using my line! I’ve been saying this for years. “We don’t see the world the way the world is, we see the world the way we are.” Love your blog. Make it a great day.
