You Can Have Anything You Want

People always get what they want. But there is a price for everything. Failures are either those who do not know what they want or are not prepared to pay the price asked them. The price varies from individual to individual. Some get things at bargain-sale prices, others only at famine prices. But it is no use grumbling. Whatever price you are asked, you must pay. – W.H. Auden

Life’s simple. We humans tend to make it seem like such a complicated process.

We want what we want, and we must fight to get it.

That is all.

You want something?

Fight for it.

You want to build a life you’re proud of? Pay the price. You want to be great? Break yourself in half working for it.

Wishing for it does nothing. It’s all about effort. The time, the energy, the passion we invest. That is all.

There are no shortcuts. There is no easy way out. No way to avoid pain, suffering, the struggles, the frustration, the learning curves, the defeats, the obstacles, the moments of doubt, anger, or hate.

As they say, you can’t take the elevator to success. You’ve got to take the stairs. And you can’t climb with your hands in your pocket. No way to go through life without shedding enough tears to drown yourself in them. Build a bridge. Walk over them. That’s what you must do.

The question is not whether or not you can do something. The question is whether or not you’re willing to pay the price. If you are willing to sacrifice comfort, to give up on people, to give up feeling safe, to give up on building a web of routines in the dead center of your comfort zone, something to catch you when you feel like the world is a mean and nasty place.

You can have anything you want in life, if you are willing to pay the price.

That is all.

Life’s really that simple. Not easy, just simple. Don’t make it seem like such a terrifying process, because it’s not.
