It seems to me that the last couple of years have been all about the grind.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson famously works out twice before we even wake up. Elon Musk sleeps on a couch in his office. Everyone is either working hard or telling everyone else to work hard.
But what about working smart? What about becoming more efficient? Getting more done in less time. Isn’t that something worth looking into?
Well, lucky you, here are fifteen ideas to help you work smarter, not just harder.
I need to put copies of this on every mirror and bulletin board in my house. I SO need to need to follow these practices, starting with WAKING UP EARLY! I can’t believe how much time I waste every day and how guilty I feel about important things I don’t get done. Good inspiration, sir.

Waking up early is quite the game changer. Now it’s 6AM here in Romania. I’ve been awake for an hour. Now, I’m replying to comments, then I will edit the posts scheduled for today, eat breakfast, go to the gym, and when all that is finished it’s barely 10:30 AM. Still a lot of time to get a lot of stuff done.

What do you do after that? lol seems like you get it all done pretty early!

Read, write, edit, spend time with my friends and family. Stuff like that. It depends. I really don’t have two days that are identical, and my life seems to be moving at a fast past anyways, so everything around me tends to change every few months or so.

That sounds like an ideal schedule/routine. I hope things are changing in a good way for you! :)

Great post! I consider myself a highly productive person. I identify with productivity. I find I have more drive than most and it largely come from not being satisfied if I’m not working towards something. I’m not sure exactly how I got this way, but I do many of the things you mentioned above. It becomes habit. Just like sitting on you tail will become habit if you let it. How did you become a driven person?

Hmmm… I just am. I just like to get stuff done. I am always in a hurry. And I get anxious if I sit around too much.

Great points! And I totally agree with you on the ‘black holes’
I personally like to wake up to doing something I really ‘feel’ like doing… and that feeling of satisfaction gets my engines all fired and inspires me to do more of what I have to do.

It makes sense. I also think it works as a motivator to get out of bed in the morning.

Streamlining and prioritisation are good for increasing productivity. As is doing the same things at the same to get into a schedule. Using your own body rhythms and those of the culture your currently in are also useful. Delegation too if possible to those that are better suited to particular tasks. Works in families as well as business.

Yes, I didn’t mention delegation because I don’t do it. I know I should. It’s a great way to ensure that you do what you are best at and don’t waste time doing something you absolutely loathe.

It’s also the fact that if you want something done your way it is often best if you do it yourself.

Indeed. Tough to say do. It’s quite the balancing act.

Yes life seems to come down to the same things we all know about despite the fact that we are all so very different from each other.

It’s 4:44 AM here and that “rise early” idea resonated with me. I have been up for about an hour. I got about 3 hours worth of work done because the time was 100% uninterrupted… no distractions at this hour! Now, I will go back to bed and sleep for a couple hours before starting my usual day. Learning to say no – and taking on one task at a time are good suggestions – ideas that I need to work on. Thank you for this helpful post, Cristian.

As they say we are biologically designed to sleep 4 hours at a time, so it’s maybe a good idea to sleep, get up, get stuff done, then sleep for a few hours again.
