Here’s How You Make 2020 The Best Year of Your Life

As I look back on this year, I realize that 2019 has perhaps been my best year ever. It’s funny, because that’s what I thought about 2018, but the thing is that this is not by chance.

I have this strong desire to evolve, to develop myself into who I’ve always wanted to be. I do so in order to be happy.

But in order to get our what, we must understand how. And this is why I’ve come up with a list of things that are necessary in order to improve your life.

You know, just so you make 2020 the best year yet.

1. Focus on one big goal.

You’re at your most powerful if you focus on one goal at a time. Our time and energy are limited, so we must use them wisely. If you have 7-8 goals, you’ll spread yourself too thinly. But if you have one goal, you’ll be able to focus you energy and attention completely on that one goal. And that’s one of the secrets of success.

Choose one goal to accomplish this year. And focus completely on it this year.

Put your goal on your wall. Make it your mantra. Keep it your focus for 2020, and you’ll not only achieve it, but you’ll feel great for doing so.

2. Develop a new habit.

Goals are nice, but it’s more important to develop the habits that helps us achieve those goals.

If productivity is our aim, then we must live our lives in such a way that we don’t go through our days feeling lazy and unmotivated.

What is a habit you’d want to develop?

Is it working out? Eating healthy, nutritious meals? Waking up earlier?

Whatever it is, keep in mind that goals are achieved by habits.

Commit yourself, hold yourself accountable, and focus completely on that habit for the following year.

3. Take action now.

Most people fail when it comes to their goals and resolutions because they never take action.

Do not wait for January first to take action.

Take action today to improve your life.

4. Simplify.

We waste so much time, that it often feels like a miracle when we do get the time to work on what truly matters.

If you take the time to simplify your life, in some way, your year will be much better. When there’s too much going on in our lives, it overwhelms us. It spreads us thin. It makes us ineffective. Simplifying things helps keep us sane, and makes us more powerful.

Take time to figure out the 4-5 things that are most important in your life, then focus your time and energy on getting them done.

5. Learn to focus.

It’s day to day life that wears you out. It’s also day to day life and those daily habits that are going to determine if you achieve your goals or not.

It’s easy to get caught up in things that come our way, in the daily crises that derail our plans, in distractions and email and phone calls and social media. Very easy. If you allow yourself to lose focus, it will be almost impossible to achieve your goals.

To make 2020 your best year ever, learn to focus. Identify your big goal, the habits that are crucial in order to achieve those goals, and focus.

Each morning (or the night before), make a list of the things that you want to accomplish today. Shut everything off except what you need for that task. Clear your desk and turn off the phone. Then focus on that one thing, trying your utmost to complete the task.

When you’re done, take a break and reward yourself. Then focus on the next task. Working like this, there’s nothing you can’t accomplish.

In order to make 2020 the best year of your life so far, you need to know what you want, why you want it, and the steps you need to take in order to have it.

That is all.

  1. Thank you for this list. I was determined to finish my book in 2018. But I got lazy and sidetracked. Of course, it is not finished. I’m so close. I will take your advice and focus on this one goal. That means changing habits like social media. I have the time. I’ve not focused my time on the goal. Here’s to renewing my goal with action.

  2. Focus focus focus has been my mantra for years. It gets you through and help with prioritising., especially if like many people you have more than one goal. Say business and family, or whatever, you do have to focus on what the big goal is as this usually ties in all the others.
