Who You Are vs. Who You Want To Be

To paraphrase Hemingway, the goal is not to be better than anyone else, but to become better than your former self.
Because the truth is that there’s someone out there who’s better than you at anything you can imagine. It’s just how it is.

You can as competitive as you like, but you’ll only become bitter whenever you’ll be defeated.

The trick is to compete with yourself. To outgrow who you used to be, to push past your own limits and fears.

  1. This is very good advice. Focus on the self instead of others, only then we can improve our life. Jealousy and envy only leads to peril but inspiration and hard work leads to a better future. Thanks for sharing :)

  2. Good advice! I’m always changing myself, to try to find myself. I could care less about others. But I want to be a better me, always. Especially in my art. I’m forever pushing myself to be better than I was before, always experimenting and learning. That’s how you grow! :)
