“You can’t connect the dots looking forward you can only connect them looking backwards.
So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.
You have to trust in something: your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever.
Because believing that the dots will connect down the road will give you the confidence to follow your heart, even when it leads you off the well worn path.”
Steve Jobs
Fourteen years ago someone read one of my stories.
They didn’t like it. They told me to give up and do something else.
And this made me angry.
Yes, I was but a kid back then, but I truly believed in my dream.
I didn’t think of myself as being talented, but I wanted to make it.
I believed in my dream…
“You were designed for accomplishment, engineered for success, and endowed with the seeds of greatness.”
Zig Ziglar
I followed my heart. I wrote and I wrote and I wrote. I had no one to support me, no one to read my words.
It’s kind of difficult to write, with no audience. With no plan of ever reaching an audience.
Yet I hoped.
Somehow I knew that as long as I kept writing, something would happen.
Someday.
I knew that it would all make sense.
That people were going to read my words, that I would leave my mark upon this world.
Of course, I didn’t know how or when. I’d give up on writing for a couple of days, weeks, or even a few months, but I’d always return to it when the words would demand to be let out of their cage.
What I’m really trying to say is this: follow your passions mercilessly. It doesn’t matter if no one cares, if no one’s there to support you. It doesn’t matter if you don’t have all the pieces of the puzzle in place…
All that matters is that you do your thing.
Day in and day out.
Trust your instincts. Listen to your heart.
Fight for your dream.
Day after day after day.
Pick yourself up when you fall.
Be creative.
Be passionate.
Be relentless.
Don’t compromise.
Don’t sell yourself short.
Greatness is within reach. Always.

This Blog reminds me of the three Miners who mined their Claim for years without any succes. One Day they unanimously decided to sell their Claim and become Farmers. The new owners dug into the Rocks three feet and struck one of the Richest Veins of Gold. Never, never give up on your Dreams even if it takes you nowhere. It’s better to finish last than not entering the Race.

Beautiful story, Anthony. And, yes, success is the sum of small efforts. As long as we don’t give up, each day we are closer to becoming successful.

A positive piece of exceedingly inspirational writing. Never give up on the passion that burns deep within one’s soul, regardless of what the passion is or looks like.

I was thinking the same since this morning. Even when I was a little girl, I always used to say, “I want to inspire people, and I want to be remembered.” Now, whenever I get a fan mail or get positive comments about my work, it makes me feel satisfied that I was able to make an impact. And I am glad I chose to be a blogger.

Persistence definitely pays off and I think your writing is amazing, Cristian. Apparently others think so as well. So I say the many of lives you have touched with your words outweigh that one person who told you to give up. Keep doing what you’re doing, my friend. 🙂

So true. It’s so important just to try and do things. Even if you fail, you see what’s your thing and what isn’t, and with time you find out who you are and what you want. I’ve tried many things that got nowhere, but they led me to what I’m really interested in. The mistakes are part of the learning experience. You will recognise your vocation because you are drawn to it, despite temporary setbacks.

Cristian, especially find strength from two items you mention: Trust your instincts and be passionate.

Well said, and really motivating! If no one will believe in what you do, do yourself a favor and believe in yourself. Believe that your skills will get better if you keep putting in the hours.
