Non Playable Characters

Most people have lived lives of quiet desperation for so long that all they want is to numb themselves to everything. They are more than willing to forfeit their self-awareness for the illusion of peace.

I call these people NPCs or non-playable characters. If looked at from afar, an NPC often gives off the impression of being stuck in a daydream, but the truth is that a lack of a inner world is the primary characteristic of an NPC.
